Happy Holidays!

The Christmas holiday season has come 'round again and, all clichés aside, I really do enjoy this time of year. Especially now, when it's early enough that I'm still enamored with all the sparkly lights and not too stressed out (yet). So today's post is all FA LA LA. I have some new products in my Etsy shop for the holiday season (perfect for gift giving, hint, hint.) and they're going fast because I don't make a lot of them! I've also been working on some new holiday art because while I'm usually making Christmas art all year long this is really the easiest and most enjoyable time to make it. New this year, I have some holiday photo cards available with Mpix.com and I'd love for you to check them out if you're sending out family Christmas cards. Finally, the most recent Yellow House Post included some free printable gift tags because I'm a total gift wrap nerd. If you'd like some of your own, subscribe! Or send me a note and I'll make sure you get some. Now I'm off to deck the halls or wassail . . . or something like that.

New in the Shop: Stationery!

Let's hear it for paper! I'll admit, I have a borderline weird obsession with paper stuff. I can't help myself. Notebooks, journals, stationery, little cards, post-it notes, scrapbooking stuff (Do I scrapbook? Not at all!), paper boxes, paper lanterns. . . I saw furniture from Finland made out of cardboard! springbouquets1

I've wanted to add stationery products to my Etsy shop for awhile and I finally have some to share with you! There are currently three sets available. The first is the "Spring Bouquet Notecard Set," a set of 6 notecards with colorful flowers paired up with a bicycle, rain boots, and an umbrella. There are 2 of each design on a nice folded notecard, blank on the inside, with white envelopes. These are perfect for mailing to a friend you haven't seen in awhile or when you want to write an extra special thank you, like for your kid's third grade teacher. These are the good dishes of stationery.

The second two sets are flat postcard/notecard sets. The design covers one side of the card (much like a postcard), but the back has a nice soft surface for writing. They also come with matching envelopes. One set is called "Flora Patina," full of vibrant flowers and mushrooms. The other set is my "Peony Garden" design. Each set comes with 12 cards, 3 of each design. I think of these as a more casual notecard when you want something to stick inside a little gift or put on top of a plate of cookies for the neighbor who watered your plants when you were on vacation. These are the paper plates (nice, cute paper plates) of stationery.

I hope you enjoy them and please let me know if you'd like to see more stationery items like this in my shop. What kinds are your favorites? Does anyone know if you can make your own washi tape? Wouldn't that be awesome?

Happy New Year! 2015 Calendars available

2015teatowelwallhangingHappy New Year everyone! I'm finally getting back to a "normal" routine now that the kids have gone back to school, then stayed home from school because of frighteningly low windchills, and then went back to school again. Sigh. Now I'm back in my freezing cold basement working on new projects and new work. Today I'm sharing CALENDARS with you! Perhaps the reason I'm having such a hard time getting back to productivity is that I don't even have a calendar for 2015 yet! Sure, I have an online calendar, but I usually have real calendars all over the place and I don't have a single one yet. Ironically, I have a few calendars to share with you! At least someone can get a start on the new year! Tea Towel Calendar

I put some of my 2015 tea towel calendars in my shop last month and they sold out much faster than I expected! So I ordered some more and they are now back in my Etsy shop. I have a small number of both designs, A Vintage Year and Knockin' on 2015, available and when they're gone, they're gone. You'll still be able to order them in my Spoonflower shop, but they won't be in my Etsy shop again. This year I have to make sure I keep one for myself!

*Side note: if you're looking for a way to hang your tea towel because you've decided you don't want to use it to mop up spilled Cheerios (but hey, there's nothing wrong with that!), I decided to hang mine using the method Muffin Grayson describes on her blog. Muffin's calendar design was also in the Spoonflower contest top ten and I love her display idea. Check out her tutorial if you'd like to do the same.

You can also find my 2015 desk calendar, A Year of Flowers, in my Etsy shop. These have become the most popular item in my shop, both as a "favorited" item and purchased item. I'm so glad that people seem to like it! I have around 10 left at this point and again, once they're gone they're gone.

Finally I've put together a printable A Vintage Year Mini Calendar that is also available as a digital download in my Etsy shop. You'll recognize the designs from my "A Vintage Year" tea towel calendar. This time you can print your own 3.5" x 4.5" calendar at home. It's a perfect little calendar for your refrigerator, desk, or bulletin board. I hope you enjoy it!2015MiniCalendarC

Like most people, the new year always brings that "fresh start" vibe to my life, a blank page, and I have lots of plans for 2015. Thanks for joining me on my journey and I hope you have a wonderful new year!

Free Printable Christmas Gift Tags

gifttagsoverviewWhoa! December strikes again! Where exactly does all my time go this month? If you're like me, your to do list seems never-ending. At the same time I really do enjoy the Christmas season. Twinkle lights, cookies, presents, special music and traditions, did I mention the cookies? It's especially fun with little kids in the house. Instead of "Good Morning" my five-year-old son greets me every morning with something like, "Six days until Christmas!!" I have a little freebie for you today in the spirit of the season: printable gift tags. Download, print on sticker paper (or cardstock), cut out, and attach to all those pretty packages under your tree.

Download your GIFT TAGS.

gifttagsboxI hope you enjoy them! Remember, generally you'll print them "Actual Size" or "Full Size." Letter sized sticker paper is available at most office/craft stores. You can also print on cardstock or a heavier paper like Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte. Adjust the settings on your printer to a higher quality print for the best results. If you print them on paper you could either tape them on your gifts or punch a hole in the top and tie it onto a ribbon.

If you'd like some gift tags for the kids in your life you can download my Christmas Critters gift tags from last year.

Visit my Etsy shop to purchase and download my latest seasonal download print, "Have Yourself  A Merry Little Christmas." Easy and fun holiday decor for procrastinators and those who like instant gratification (I fall into all of the above categories!)

This December I've also been keeping busy by participating in Faye Brown's Advent Challenge 2014. It's been a really fun way to come up with more Christmas designs that I can hopefully incorporate into future work. You can follow along on Instagram.

And hey, why not sign up for my newsletter for the new year?! My first newsletter just went out this week. There'll be updates, new work, freebies, and special offers about once a month or so. Sign up over there on the right!

After today I'll be on "Christmas Vacation." I told my husband I'm having a company Christmas party this afternoon. Me, myself, and I, having some goodies and maybe a drink.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Everything, however you celebrate the season. See you in the new year!

Give Thanks Download - Happy Thanksgiving

givethanks I don't know if you're aware of this, what with all the Christmas decorations festooned upon every possible surface in the stores these days, but there's a little holiday coming up next week called Thanksgiving! That delicious holiday that calls us to be grateful and serves as an excuse to eat all. day. long. I think gratitude is one of the more important things I can teach my kids and a practice I'm always trying to remember in my own life. Today you can find a new digital download print in my Etsy shop called "Give Thanks." So if you're hosting the holiday or just want a last minute seasonal decor item for your home, you can check it out, print it out, and enjoy (for only 5 bucks).
