Sewing with Christmas Village

I’ll be the first to admit, you will not find me sewing Christmas projects in July. It’s just not going to happen. Will you find me finishing up my thoughtfully handmade gifts the week before Christmas, cursing myself for not starting them earlier? Yes, yes you will. BUT we can all have goals. Goals that involve getting things done ahead of time to save our sanity. I don’t know that I’ll get there but I’m inspired by all the Christmas Village projects I’ve seen. Maybe you’ll be inspired to sew up one or two of these.

Christmas Tree Mini Quilt

I just love this mini quilt project. I think I appreciate the “do-ability” (I word I am just now making up) of a mini quilt. Bev from Flamingo Toes created this free pattern and tutorial for Riley Blake Designs and it would be such a cute project for the holidays. Definitely on my to-do list.

Christmas Quilt Blocks & Potholders

Ingrid, from Joe, June, and Mae, created these adorable Christmas themed quilt blocks that take fussy cutting to a whole new level and they use the wide variety of images available in Christmas Village to great effect. You can find the patterns on her website and then use one of the blocks to follow her instructions on making quilted Christmas pot holders! I must have them.

Full Quilts

If making a Christmas quilt is top of your list you have some wonderful options with Christmas Village. First, Lisa Jo of Neverland Stitches made this wonderful Crossed Stars quilt (available in her shop). And if you’d like to sew up something wicked fast (like, say, on December 22 or so…) the Christmas Village collection has a pretty panel that makes an easy holiday quilt when you add some borders. You can grab the free pattern from Riley Blake Designs.

I do hope I can make myself something fun for the holidays this year. Check back on December 20th and tell me to get going!
