Let's take a Wildwood Wander, through my new fabric collection!

Come along with me down a quiet path through the woods as I introduce you to my new fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, called Wildwood Wander. This collection will be available in August and it’s inspired by one of my life-long favorite things, being out in nature. There are wildflowers and owls and mushrooms and it’s all about wonder and curiosity as we explore the natural world around us.

The prints of Wildwood Wander in the navy colorway.

I have three kids (teenagers now!) and we’ve always gone on nature walks. Many times these were just through our own neighborhood, around the pond, or down some trails. But we would look for surprises and little details and collect things along the way: milkweed pods, feathers, acorns, rocks, and little flowers. Naturally, as they got older, we started venturing further away from home. And during the pandemic we, like many people, spent a lot of time outside, discovering new trails and nature reserves. I am a habitually slow nature-walker because inevitably I will find something I want to take a picture of and now I have a large library of reference photos of things we discovered along the way. Many of those collected images made their way into this collection.

The pretty main print is bursting with wildflowers in a cream, navy, and green background. The symmetrical owl print was inspired by a barred owl we spotted on an evening walk. There’s a sketchbook print because I love botanical illustrations and nature field journals. You’ll also find a fun mushroom print and a design based on topographical maps. Finally there’s a cross-hatch pattern and a blender featuring a compass rose, so you don’t get lost in your wandering.

The color palette for this collection goes from light creams and peaches to deep navy and green, offering a nice contrast. I think the fabric will work for a number of projects and I really hope you enjoy working with it.
